Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Not all English Heritage properties are open yet, and those that are require pre-booking via their website.

If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for professional advice.

Halliggye Fogou

Roofed and walled in stone, this complex of passages is the largest and best-preserved of several mysterious underground tunnels associated with Cornish Iron Age settlements.
The purpose of such 'fogous' - a Cornish-language word meaning 'cave' - is unknown. Refuges, storage chambers or ritual shrines have all been suggested.
Managed by The Trelowarren Estate. Free entry to the fogou. Entry to the rest of the estate is charged.
